Cuffing season is officially over, and you know what that means… You’re about to see some breakups. We want you to be fully prepared just in case you get that dreaded phone call from your friend, boohoo-ing about her breakup. So here are a couple of items you should pack up when you head over to your bestie’s house:
1. A girl’s 2 best friends: Ben & Jerry
The ultimate comfort food. Ben & Jerry’s. Cookie Dough is always a safe choice, but if you know her favorite flavor, by all means choose that one. I’d recommend Chunky Monkey.
2. Her favorite type of tea
Depending on the weather, tea might be a better option than ice cream. However, I’d go for both. You never know. Especially if she’s still in the not-eating mood, tea is a very good option.
3. A stack of movies. Or your Netflix logins
Whatever you do, do NOT bring happy love stories about weddings and happily ever afters. Again, this depends on what she likes. Could be Disney movies, could be movies with lots of guns and blood and violence. Also, I say “bring” but you’re more likely to login to Netflix. So add her to your account or just use your own logins.
4. A fluffy blanket
You’re gonna need something to curl up under while watching The Expendables shoot up yet another group of bad guys under the enjoyment of your cookie dough ice cream and/or jasmine infused green tea, after all.
5. An invitation to a spa day, weekend getaway… Or a day at Six Flags
After she starts feeling a little better from all this TLC she’s been getting from you, tell her that in an X amount of weeks, you’re taking her on a trip to a spa day / weekend getaway / day at Six Flags / paintball shootout / whatever floats her boat. Again, fully dependent on what she likes. But a little girltime, whatever that means to y’all, is just what she needs. And could possibly even be something that needs to be caught up on.
6. The moving on package
There’ll always be memories to hang onto, and little things that will remind her of him. However, there are some things that you don’t want lying around the house that might spark memories and even potentially scare off (the idea of) somebody new at some point. So, what every woman needs after a big breakup are the following things:
– New bedsheets
– New lingerie
7. Blacklists
Not to be underestimated. Just as certain items and smells can remind you of someone, so can sounds. In particular certain songs. Help your friend create a special ‘Blacklist’ playlist, on which you can dump all the songs that she really doesn’t need to hear right now.
