Everything you need to know about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

As I would hope we all know by know, Batman v Superman is hitting theaters in a little more than a week, including an IMAX release. In order to prepare for this joyous occasion, I’ve decided to list some facts and trivia that are absolutely crucial for you to know.

Of course I’ll avoid spoilers. As a matter of fact, I so desperately want to be able to enjoy the movie in full, that I’ve purposely avoided all trailers. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to know a little bit about the movie. I just didn’t want to see it. Anyway here we go!

So the first thing you need to know is that the theatrical release of Batman v Superman is radically different from the version that’s gonna hit home entertainment in a couple of months/weeks. The big difference? There’s a whole bunch of characters that will only make an appearance in the last version. Among those are Jena Malone and Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green.

Now we all know this movie is leading up to the inevitable Justice League movie, currently set for 2017. So it should come as no surprise that Wonder Woman also plays a prominent role in this movie, and there are rumors of an Aquaman appearance. If I were you, I’d stay in my seat until after the film credits.

Then there’s of course some fun trivia about the movie. Let’s take it all the way back to 2007’s awesome movie I Am Legend, in which the first teaser for this Batman v Superman movie was visible. Remember the opening scene?

So the backstory here is that screenwriter Akiva Goldsman had been trying to revive the Superman franchise since 2002, doing multiple rewrites for a Batman v Superman movie in which Batman was to go on a full frenzy after the Joker kills his fiancée, and then Superman has to stop him. But then the movie was shelved and they decided to go with Superman Returns in 2006. Ouch. So they decided to add insult to injury and put this little jab in I Am Legend.

Another little fun thing is that Henry Cavill actually kept up with his ridiculous Man of Steel regime in the time between that movie and this one, so he was able to build up twice as much muscle mass as in Man of Steel. Know what that means? Twice as much Henry Cavill to look at. Yay!
