Hey all! Any of you that know me, know I’m a big fan of op OPI nail polish. And Scandal. And Kerry Washington. So when I heard about Kerry Washington becoming OPI’s new ambassador I can’t lie, I squealed. So the moment is finally here: swatches for the entire OPI Washington DC collection!

Halfway through the swatches it got dark outside so I had to turn on the lights inside, so unfortunately I don’t have them all in natural light. I did turn on white lights instead of yellow to keep the pictures as close to the actual color as possible.

So it’s a 15 polishes strong collection, which we knew. Let’s just get started, shall we?

CIA = Color Is Awesome

This color’s awesome. The formula’s great. Very little else to say about application and the color. What you do have to take into account is to be careful when removing this, it’s going to stain your cuticles. I regret swatching this color first to be honest.

Stay Off The Lawn!!

Y’all. I think you can one-coat this one. I did two anyway though. Formula’s fabulous, the color is great. Love it.

Suzi – The First Lady of Nails

The first layer’s a little thin, but it’s nothing a second coat won’t fix. I really, really love this. It might need a top coat though.

Never A Dulles Moment

OK so yellows are always a little streaky, especially at the first coat. Also, I don’t love this color. Meh.

Pale to the Chief

Love! Streaky on the first coat, fixed on the second and I LOVE this. I mean, look at it!

Yank My Doodle

OPI says it’s a copper. I don’t really think so but it’s a nice color nonetheless. It’s not necessarily my favorite kind of color but the formula is beautiful, not patchy at all.

Freedom of Peach

Peachy color, obvs. I don’t necessarily love the way peach looks against my skintone. But the formula’s great, still sheer on the first coat but perfectly fine after.

Squeaker of the House

This. This is my nude color. Kerry Washington came through for me. Yaaay. Formula is once again great. It needs a top coat. Don’t like the name though.

Shh…It’s Top Secret!

A dark chocolatey brown that makes me want to have chocolate. It’s very, very dark though. I think you can one-coat it. But I don’t. So I didn’t. But on the second coat it looks almost black. It’s not, but it looks it. I don’t know. I think it’s too dark for me.

Madam President

Two easy coats. I always like these colors, this is kind of the OPI Washington DC version of She’s a Bad Muffuletta from the New Orleans collection.

We the Female

This is so awesome. You miiiiight one-coat it, but one coat still showed some visible nail line on me so I went with two.

Overall I really love this collection. Some of the colors are pretty standard and then there are some standouts, some colors I definitely didn’t have. It’s creamy, it’s classy, it’s perfect to move from work to drinks or whatever else you like to in your evenings.

There are three limited edition colors that were handpicked by Kerry Washington herself. I swatched those a couple of days ago and you can find them here. The colors are:

{:}{:nl}Hi allemaal! Jullie weten dat ik al maanden uitkijk naar de OPI collectie van Kerry Washington. Het is eindelijk zover: ik heb de hele OPI Washington DC collectie voor jullie geswatched!

Even een kleine waarschuwing: toen ik begon was het nog licht, halverwege het swatchen werd het buiten donker dus heb ik met kunstlicht foto’s moeten nemen. Ik heb wel wit licht gebruikt zodat er geen rare gele gloed over mijn nagels heen zou vallen. Zo zijn de kleuren zo waarheidsgetrouw mogelijk op de foto gezet. Zullen we beginnen?

CIA = COLOR IS AWESOME

Hele toffe kleur, dit. De formule is ook erg fijn. Ik heb verder weinig bijzonders te melden over de applicatie en de kleur zelf, helemaal top. het enige is dat je uit moet kijken met het verwijderen van deze kleur, het kan zijn dat je nagelriemen een beetje blauw kleuren. Voorzichtig met te hard wrijven dus.

STAY OFF THE LAWN!!

Ik denk dat je dit in 1 laagje helemaal mooi zou kunnen krijgen. Ik doe er altijd twee voor de zekerheid, vaak wordt de kleur dan toch wat dieper. De formule is weer heel fijn, de kleur is leuk. Helemaal goed, love it.

SUZI – THE FIRST LADY OF NAILS

De eerste laag is een beetje dun, maar dat is met de tweede laag helemaal opgelost. Ik vind deze kleur echt heel erg leuk, ik heb nog niks anders wat erop lijkt. Het heeft wel een top coat nodig voor die extra shine.

NEVER A DULLES MOMENT

OK gele nagellak is altijd wat streperig, dus je moet hiervoor geduld. hebben. Het is niet helemaal mijn kleur. Mwah. Tip: laat de eerste laag heel erg goed drogen voordat je de tweede laag lak op je nagels doet.

PALE TO THE CHIEF

Heel erg fijn, deze kleur! Ook weer streperig met de eerste laag, maar dat is helemaal verholpen bij de tweede laag. Wederom goed laten drogen tussendoor.

YANK MY DOODLE

Volgens OPI is dit een koperkleur. Ik vind van niet, maar leuk is ‘ie wel (en de naam ook)! Het is niet per se mijn lievelingskleur, maar de formule is weer heel fijn, hij verspreidt zich heel egaal.

FREEDOM OF PEACH

Een perzikkleur dus. Ik vind perzik nooit zo heel mooi op mijn teint. De formule is wel weer heel fijn, niks op aan te merken.

SQUEAKER OF THE HOUSE

Dit is ‘m. Dit is mijn nude kleur. Dit is wat Kerry Washington had beloofd voor deze collectie. Yaaay! Formule is weer helemaal fijn, hier is wel een top coat nodig. Ohja: deze naam vind ik minder leuk. Maar dat mag de pret niet drukken.

SHH…IT’S TOP SECRET!

Een hele donkere chocolade-achtige kleur. Hij zou in 1 laagje kunnen, maar dat heb ik dus niet gedaan. Na de tweede laag lijkt deze lak bijna zwart. Ik vind ‘m iets te donker naar mijn smaak.

MADAM PRESIDENT

Twee makkelijke laagjes. Deze kleuren vind ik altijd leuk. Hij doet me denken aan She’s a Bad Muffuletta uit de New Orleans collectie.

Ik vind deze kleur nog leuker dan de vorige. Formule is weer heel fijn, niks op aan te merken.

WE THE FEMALE

Deze is echt heel tof. Je kan ‘m in 1 laagje doen, maar ik had na 1 laagje nog wel een zichtbare nagelrand, dus ik heb er toch twee gedaan.

Ik vind deze collectie echt fantastisch. De meeste kleuren zijn voor mij helemaal nieuw, en zelfs de dingen die ik al had lijken er niet genoeg op om de Washington DC kleuren over te kunnen slaan. Het zijn allemaal crème lakjes en ze kunne prima van kantoor naar borrel.
