The OPI New Orleans collection is hitting stores here in the Netherlands on February 22nd. To help you prepare your wishlist, I swatched all of them for you! (Picture heavy post!)
I’m swatching the whole lot without a top coat, so you can see how much shine these babies pack all by themselves. Unless stated otherwise, each swatch consists of two layers of polish. Here we go.
The first color I’ll showyou the a gorgeous cute light pink with a slight shimmer. The danger with polishes like this one is that they can be really streaky, as is the case with Let Me Bayou a Drink. In these cases you’re best off adding a third layer. Don’t skip the top coat either. Swatch is three coats.
I loved Humidi-Tea in the bottle. Unfortunately, I love it a little less next to my skintone. It’s an OK color, but I had expected more. Too bad, since this is once again a gorgeous shimmer (notice how I love everything shimmer?).
Suzi Nails New Orleans is a bright pink cream, really cute for spring. If it ever comes. Anyway, the first coat is very patchy, but after the second one it’s nice and levelled. Little tip: wait until the first layer is completely dry before you add the second coat.
I Manicure for Beads is a purple cream that’s almost a OCW (One Coat Wonder)! But just to be sure, I added a second coat, which made color pop a little bit more. So prettyyyyy!
Spare Me a French Quarter? is a pinkish purplish cream with the same nice formula as I Manicure for Beads.
She’s a Bad Muffuletta! Pretty coral cream. Very pretty. The first coat is patchy, but it evens out on the second. Be careful removing this though, you’ll end up with bright red fingertips. Also, again, wait with applying the second coat until the first one has dried completely.
Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya, more pink. It’s kind of a salmon color, I think? Anyway, as with most pinks, again, wait for the first coat to dry. This isn’t really my color. Also, this needed three coats.
Crawfishin’ for a Compliment is a light orange cream polish. I think this color will look good on everyone. And I don’t even like orange! This color gives me vacation vibes though.
This is the one I’ve been looking forward to. Take a Right On Bourbon is a metallic pearl polish. Super streaky. Totally worth it.
Finally, a different color category! I’m Sooo Swamped! is a green cream polish. The formula is fantastic. Looooved the formula. I’m just not sure when I’d actually wear this shade…
The last cream polish in this collection: Rich Girls & Po-Boys. Kinda the same story as I’m Sooo Swamped! Great formula, although not as perfect as I’m Sooo Swamped!, but when would I wear this?
Finally, the only real shimmer polish in this batch: Show Us Your Tips! The formula is very thin, so if you want to have full coverage, you’re going to have to apply 3-4 coats. My swatch here is only two though.
And now, especially for all of you, because I know you want to see it: Show Us Your Tips! over Rich Girls & Po-Boys.
All in all the OPI New Orleans collection is a great set of spring shades. I’m usually into really bright colors, so my favorite would have to be She’s a Bad Muffuletta! Which shades will you be getting?
Want to know what other collections are coming up? I listed them right here.
