What
So I stumbled upon Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palettes through Instagram or Tumblr or something like that and saw a lot of people commenting on the excellent pigmentation, which is something I had been looking for.
There’s a bunch of eyeshadow palettes and two blush palettes. And then some lippies and an eyebrow thing and some loose eyeshadow colors. But the eyeshadow palettes. Yes. So much yes. Each palette is inspired by either a people, a culture or something along those lines. The brand started out with The Nubian, which is now my favorite neutral shade palette, and has since expanded into 9 different paletes, each with its own characteristics and never repeating the colors.
Why
THESE COLORS OHMYGOD. No but seriously, I often find it difficult to find eyeshadow palettes with colors that actually turn out the same way on my skin as they do in the packaging. And I can imagine it’s a lot worse for a lot of people with darker skin tones. Of course there are options available at a bunch of retailers, but they come at a cost. A high cost. Where do you think those Sephora memes come from? So to find a highly pigmented, high quality, blendable yet affordable eyeshadow palette is kind of like catching a unicorn. And Juvia’s Place has 9 unicorns and counting.
Oh, also: they’re cruelty-free.
So here’s a before / after pic of me after a makeupartist friend of mine from Dubai did my makeup using the Nubian 2 palette, which happens to be my absolute favorite (good mix of bronze/gold tones for everyday and superbright colors).
Where
You can find Juvia’s Place palettes here:
Juvia’s Place – the official website. Contains all products of course. Be careful though if you live outside of the USA or Canada, as import duties and taxes might cost you dearly.
Beauty Bay – One of my favorite websites for a bunch of different beauty products. Super reliable, fast shipping, no unexpected costs. If you live in Europe, I’d recommend ordering from this place.
Please don’t think you can outsmart the system and order this off of websites where the authenticity isn’t guaranteed. So basically, no websites that aren’t listed on Juvia’s Place. Seriously. I’ve seen reviews from people who got pinkeye as a result from using fake palettes. Not sexy.
